GameSpy puts the Intel P4 2.8 To the Test
Lots of graphs and comparison, here is a snip:
For those still questioning the optimal memory platform for a Pentium 4 chip, the answer is Rambus — if you can afford it. As the market prices for memory can be volatile at times, there isn’t a constant “better buy.” What needs to be remembered here is that with Rambus and a Pentium 4, the results are very predictable: It will be fast out of the box. Should DDR be used, for whatever reason, a memory clock ratio divider will be necessary to obtain maximum results. The necessary tweaks may not be appealing to some, as such take this into consideration. If you want a fast, DDR-equipped Pentium 4, be sure to get a motherboard with such features and certified, high-speed memory; to use PC2100 memory would be a waste of a fast processor.
