Throton to play Crockett in “The Alamo”?
Variety reports that Billy Bob Thorton is in negotiations to star in “The Alamo,” where he will play the legendary Davy Crockett, the “King of the Wild Frontier.” Walt Disney Pictures is also looking to get Ethan Hawke on board, as well as Russell Crowe. Crowe was previously committed when Ron Howard was attached as director but now that Howard has departed the project, it is unknown whether or not Crowe is still interested.
The film will be directed by “The Rookie” director John Lee Hancock, and is aiming to have a holiday 2003 release.
