Report: Sega Pondering NA Bond with EA

According to a Reuters story this morning, Sega Corp., fresh off of rejecting two previous suitors, is now considering an offer from Electronic Arts to form a North American sales alliance.
Hisao Oguchi, currently senior officer, but tapped to become president of Sega Corp. in June, told Reuters, “We will consider forming a sales joint venture in the United States if necessary.” Calling the North American market a thorn in the company’s side, he added, “If we can’t resolve this on our own, then it’s better to join hands with someone.”
No details on the proposed alliance were offered.
Oguchi also shot down any talk of Sega getting in bed with Microsoft., saying that Sega would maintain its multi-platform policy. He did add that when the next generation of consoles is released, Sega might consider “making an arrangement” with a console maker to provide its sports games to a single platform.
Oguchi said his main task for the current fiscal year is to achieve Sega’s financial targets, which includes breaking even in the consumer software business and realizing 34 percent growth in the company’s group operating profit.
