TV’s Star Trek Enterprise Retooled
After a season of losing a third of its audience, the Star Trek prequel Enterprise has been called back to spacedock for a refit and retooling.
“The show is going to be more action-oriented, faster paced,” says co-producer Brannon Braga. “We’re always looking for ideas to ramp up the show.”
Changes this season include an earth-shattering alien threat, a mysterious new multi-species antagonist, a space commando unit assigned to the ship and a more pro-active captain.
“It seems to me that this has followed a natural progression with this franchise,” diplomatically extrapolated series star, Scott Bakula. “But it didn’t come out of, `Oh my God … there’s something wrong with the show.’ It came out of `Where do we want to go from here? How can we move the show forward in an exciting and compelling and dramatic way?’”
Another move is to sex up the Vulcan role played by Jolene Blalock, reigning geek heartthrob and popular Maxim pin-up girl - who got her professional start in Toronto as a TSN host.
