SNAKE PLISSKEN video game coming in 2005

Namco Hometek Inc. has announced that it has secured the video game rights to the ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK bad boy himself, Snake Plissken. Namco is planning on developing and releasing Snake Plissken video games with the first such title planned for a Christmas 2005 release.

Actor Kurt Russell, the man who portrayed the one-eyed anti-hero through two ESCAPE movies, will provide the gruff voice for Snake in the games. “Bringing Snake into the video game world should be a blast,” Russell was quoted as saying in a Namco press release.

Russell, director John Carpenter and producer Debra Hill will be involved with the creative development of the Namco games. “Working with both the original team from ESCAPE and the developers at Namco allows Kurt, Debra and me to reach a whole new generation of Snake fans and still be true to the original movie,” said Carpenter.

Specifics on the first SNAKE game weren’t available but the company promises the game will “feature Snake battling his way through a post-apocalyptic universe using a combination of fists, firearms, stealth and brains. Just as in the films, Snake will face intense and challenging situations, which will require the player to make quick decisions and take decisive actions.”
