RETURN OF THE RINGS!
As people wait with bated breath the release of the theatrical cut of The Two Towers on Tuesday, New Line has announced something that will make the weekend a happy one for many Lord of the Rings fans:
This December both the extended versions of The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers will hit theaters! And it only gets better. But first, the preliminary info:
During the week of December 5th, the extended 208 minute cut of Fellowship will hit about 100-150 American theaters (and 20 or so for you Canucks). The next week the 214 minute Two Towers will hit. Then, on December 16th the two films will play at selected theaters back to back (Fellowship at 3, Two Towers at 7) in an all day marathon – leading to the December 17th midnight premiere of Return of the King! Sure, a full day in the theater isn’t for everyone, but for those willing to brave the bedsores, this is fun and exciting news. Tickets will be available through the internet at the end of September.
