Outrun 2 Confirmed For Xbox

It was reported sometime ago that retail listings around the net gave proof that Sega would be porting Outrun 2 over to the Xbox and today, following that report, it has been confirmed. Although somewhat of an odd source, Atari’s Australian website today posted a press release announcing the Xbox port of the game. The Xbox version of Outrun 2 will make its debut at Sega’s E3 Room 151, and the Xbox booth (#1264, South Hall). Outrun 2 for the Xbox is in development at UK-based developer Sumo Digital, and will feature enhanced modes such as Xbox Live support, an extensive single-player mission mode, and various unlockables.

Matthew Woodley, European Marketing Director, SEGA Europe Ltd, commented “OutRun 2 is one of our most exciting games this year, and after months of speculation, we’re delighted to be able to announce its development for Xbox. OutRun is an all-time classic, and OutRun 2 is perfectly positioned to build on this legacy and capture a big share of the racing game market. The title delivers a unique driving experience, which we are confident gamers will find hard to resist. The game is looking amazing on Xbox and we’re extremely proud to be able to showcase it at this year’s E3.”
