Film Review: Serenity
Lightning has struck Joss Whedon a second time. After being one of the few people to take a less-than-successful movie and turn it into a popular television series, with “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” he gets to be one of the first to attempt turning a less than successful television show (“Firefly”) into a potential movie franchise. This gambit may not work in its favor at the box office, but that will not change the fact that “Serenity” can proudly be placed alongside “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Blade Runner” as one of the best science-fiction movies of modern cinema.
