Hands-On: Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars
I finally got a chance to play the PC version of Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars, (thanks for the Fileplanet Demo) and I had a ton of fun. The last RTS that kept me coming back for more was Company of Heroes.
Command & Conquer 3 takes place in 2047, when Tiberium, the once miracle energy source, has become a crystalline cancer on the Earth. Kane (the same actor from the previous C&C games) has emerged once again with the forces of Nod. However; there is also a mysterious alien presence which has also arrived and appears to have some interest or possible connection to Tiberium.
Right off the bat, I was able to start playing the game without any clumsy interface getting in the way and the GDI building were easy to identify and allowed me to start pumping out my forces to deal with the NOD in my skirmish match. The buildings are detailed such that you can see animated debris flying, unfolding docking bays, etc.
My prediction is that Command & Conquer 3 will put the fun back into modern RTS again and you should try make those budgetary adjustments which would allow for “Buy in Now” purchase of this game.
