JERICHO LEAVES FANS HANGING

After much speculation as to the fate of the town of JERICHO, the series has not been picked up for CBS’ 2007-2008 season. After beginning successfully in the fall of 2006 and continuing to carry its audience through December, the show took a long hiatus during the winter and re-worked the direction of the show causing much of its audience to give up on the series as its audience steadily declined as the remaining episodes aired in the winter.

Originally, it was a mystery/survival tale about the end of the United States after a terrorist attack nukes a dozen or so cities. However, about a third of the way into the series they introduced too much romance and love triangles into the show and focused far too much on the survival aspect of the show that took away from the core mystery origins of the show.

The finale to JERICHO, just a few weeks ago, left fans in the state of a cliffhanger as the best actor on the show Gerald McRaney was killed off, the rest of the town was about to continue its war with a neighboring town and the military was moving in to secure the town. Now, we’ll never know what happens.

It is unclear how many people would have tuned into JERICHO for a second season anyway given that McRaney’s death on the show was highly criticized and not well received by those who still gave a rat’s ass about the show.
