‘Simpsons’ Matches ‘Gunsmoke’ Seasons

he Simpsons is hitting another major milestone this weekend, as the premiere episode marks the beginning of the show’s 20th season on the air, tying Gunsmoke’s record. It’s hitting 445 episodes this season, after topping 400 episodes last year.

Because of the longer seasons in past years, the show has some years to go to top the records for the most episodes of any show—Gunsmoke logged 633 episodes, according to USA Today

The show remains a solid licensing force, and is still achieving creatively–it won its 10th Emmy for best animated show this year.
