Ron Perlman Replacing Bruce Campbell’s Elvis in ‘Bubba Nosferatu’?’

There is a pretty exciting development from the world of Bubba Ho-Tep, and it’s coming from an unlikely source.

Ain’t it Cool News talked to Paul Giamatti about the sequel, which will be called Bubba Nosferatu. …You know, perhaps I should pause right there and explain what is. OK: Imagine if the real Elvis were still alive but living in a retirement home with John F. Kennedy. Only it’s not really Kennedy. And JFK is black.

So it’s the King of Rock n’ Roll (Bruce Campbell) and the King of America’s Camelot (Ossie Davis) in a retirement home…fighting an Egyptian mummy. That should do the trick, I think.

Now back to the present: Giamatti will play Col. Tom Parker in the next film, because he loved the first one so much. He’s even co-producing for director Don Coscarelli, and Giamatti says that, although Campbell won’t be back, they’re looking at Ron Perlman to take his place.

Why won’t Campbell be back? “Every effort was made by us, he just didn’t want to do it and he was cool about it,” admits Giamatti. “He just didn’t want to do it, which is a bummer, because part of the reason I love that movie is him… a big part of it. He’s fantastic and I’ve always loved him. I’m a big fan of his, but he didn’t want to do it, which is totally cool.”
