Funcom Shutting Down More Than Half Of Age Of Conan Servers
This just goes to show that the economy affects even the most successful of games. Age of Conan, one of the more successful MMO games, is shutting down more than half of their servers. The game will be consolidated from 24 servers to a mere 6. Europe gets to retain 12 servers due to language barriers, but the English speaking worlds will be cut to just 4. The cuts are likely due to the game not retaining anywhere near as many paying subscribers as anticipated, and even though the game started out with a bang (415,000 subscribers), they players left much quicker due to lack of content.
