Comic Book Review- Amazing Spider-man #585
Context
It’s part 2 of Character Assassination! A battered Spider-Man is still on the run and secrets are revealed!
Story
It’s part 2 of Character assassination and there is a lot going on. The stakes are high for Peter. There is a heated mayoral race, a gray goblin "menacing" the city, Harry Proposing to lily, The Spider Tracer Killer continuing to do his thing,(*deep breath) Spider-man is in bad shape, and it looks like there are some dirty cops in NYC(big surprise there). See, I told you there was a lot. However, Marc Guggenheim did an amazing job of keeping all his from being at all confusing. This issue comes with a BIG reveal as well as a certain turn of events for Spidey that is leaving me anxious, to say the least, for issue 586!
The identity of Menace is finally revealed! Personally, I could not make up my mind on who i thought Menace would turn out to be and Guggenheim revealed it in a pretty clever way, leaving me pleasantly surprised.
When Spidey passes out following a showdown with Menace, he wakes up in a position that I didn’t particularly expect. It seems his time of running from the law is up!
The Spider Tracer Killer case took a CRAZY twist that left me feeling even more anxious! To be honest, the whole case never captured my interest, UNTIL NOW! I did not see this coming, and Gugenheim did an awesome job of turning he STK case from something rather uninteresting into something that I can’t wait to see more of!
This is how It’s done! If you haven’t added Amazing Spider-man to your saver yet, DO IT NOW!!
Art
John Romita Jr. Rocked this issue! His art really created the perfect setting. This issue can be described as "tense," and his art really brought that feeling to life.
