Comic book review- Batman: Battle for the Cowl #1

Context
Who is to take Bruce Wayne’s place as Gotham’s guardian angel?

Story
In the absence of Batman, Gotham finds itself swallowed in gang warfare. Most notably the war between the penguin and Two-Face. We follow a line-up of Batman’s most trusted allies being called “The Network,” as the try to fill the void and try to take back control of a Gotham that has plunged deep into chaos. As it turns out, someone has claimed Bruce Wayne’s throne as The Caped Crusader, much to the disapproval of The Network. The Network might soon accept the help of the new Batman when they discover what Black Mask is up to!

I was completely sucked in by this issue. I had high hopes for it and i was not disappointed! Flipping the pages through this issue was nothing short of exciting as this issue is packed full of action. Daniel did an amazing job in capturing post-Batman Gotham. The chaos, the violence, the rage, and the tension were all captured by the way Daniel raced from frame to frame with a kind of urgency that you could really feel.

Daniel did a great job with the characters as well. I loved how he showed us Nightwing as the one carrying the weight of Bruce Wayne’s legacy on his shoulders. Daniel gave Dick a very “Bruce Wayne” personality which i really enjoyed. I like how he used Tim as the narrator. Robin and Squire’s team-up is fun as well.

Daniel Ended the issue with a bang….literally. As the new and quite interestingly, GUN WIELDING Batman fills up the last page. The guns may challenge your initail guess of who the new Batman is. But I’ll let you draw your own conclusions.
I have nothing but praise for this issue.

Art
Danial and Florea did a real bang-up job with this issue. To go along with Daniel’s writing, the art really did a great job of capturing the mood. Which I feel is one of the more important aspects of the issue. The art is bold and powerful.

Things to look for
THE WHOLE ISSUE!

What might put you off
can get a bit hectic

READ IT! READ IT! READ IT!
