“Family Guy” Will Do Table Read of Controversial Episode
For the second time in the show’s history, Fox has declined to broadcast an episode of the animated comedy series, “Family Guy.”
However, the network has given its blessing for a full-cast table read of the episode to take place next week according to Variety.
The episode, called “Partial Terms of Endearment,” tackles the hot button issue of abortion according to reports. In the storyline, Lois is approached to be a surrogate mother but when the parents are killed a debate arises about the baby she’s carrying.
Series creator Seth MacFarlane says he doesn’t think the episode is any more controversial than anything else the series has done. “The subject matter makes it sound like the raciest thing we’ve ever done, but it’s a balanced episode,” he said.
Series creator and star MacFarlane will take part alongside voice stars Alex Borstein, Mila Kunis, Mike Henry, Mark Hentemann and Steve Callaghan. (Seth Green is traveling in support of “Robot Chicken” and won’t attend.)
The table read is part of an event next Wednesday at Hollywood’s Ricardo Montalban Theater targeted toward Emmy voters, in light of the show’s recent nomination in the best comedy category
