July 19th brings the much-anticipated release of Magic 2014, an exciting addition to the game, adding 249 cards to the mix. Core Sets are a collection of Wizards of the Coast’s Magic: The Gathering CCG cards that are chosen from throughout the course of Magic’s history to be reprinted alongside new cards. In this new set, players will see the return of Slivers as a creature type. Last seen in Future Sight, these fast and deadly creatures augment one another as play continues and opponents’ find it tougher to defeat them as time goes on.
Even more than the previous set, Magic 2014 is strongly integrated with the digital Duels of the Planeswalkers. This year in the game, join the Planeswalker, Chandra Nalaar, in a quest to track down a manipulative and dangerous Planeswalker foe. Additionally, the game adds a number of cool new things in Magic 2014 this time around, including:
Android: For the first time ever, a Magic core set will be available via Amazon App Store and Google Play. It will feature ad-hoc multiplayer at launch and we will continue to examine online multiplayer options for a future update. Magic 2014 will continue supporting Xbox, Playstation, PC, and iPad as well.
New Play Mode: We’re not revealing what it is yet, but we’ve added another great way to play Magic.
Ten New Decks: More decks to unlock and battle online with!
Continues the tradition of exciting encounters and challenges.
