Peter Parker, fully back in the spider’s seat of his own mind, is returning to the pages of a relaunched Amazing Spider-Man #1 in April, by the creative team of Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos. The NY Daily News just officially confirmed the news
“To do that for a solid year of my life, that’s the hardest thing I’ve had to do — to look small children in the eye at a convention and lie to them," Slott told The Daily News. "Inside, part of me was dying." Slott did, however, on a set visit for Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2, tell Andrew Garfield that Peter would be back in time for the film.
When Slott first discussed the storyline that would kill off Peter and see Otto Octavius, who debuted in 1963’s Amazing Spider-Man #3 as Doc Ock, one of Peter’s oldest, most nefarious villains take his place as Spidey with the executives at Marvel, the writer said he was "as cynical" as any fan would be.
Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso says that "people will appreciate him a little more after this." He added that he thought "people have been taking [Peter] for granted."
As for the return itself, the Daily News was light on details, but Dan Slott has taken to social media to tease fans that at least some hints will come as early as this coming Wednesday, January 15, 2014. In Superior Spider-Man currently, Otto/Spidey has merged with the Venom symbiote – while Dr. Strange’s magic erased Parker from the alien suit’s memory, it does recognize that something is wrong with its host. The Avengers are on the scene, and Peter’s ex-girlfriend Carlie Cooper, who has figured out the mind-swap, is currently being held captive by the Green Goblin.
"This Sunday, January 12th there will be some BIG Superior Spider-Man SPOILERS on news & comic news sites," Slott posted on his Facebook page.
"If you can, you should probably try to avoid them till after you’ve read your new comics on Weds.
"You’ve been warned."
New York, NY (January 9th, 2014) – Marvel Entertainment is excited to announce an all-new on-going series, Iron Fist: THE Living Weapon by the striking talent of writer and artist, Kaare Andrews (Spider-Man: Reign, A+X).
This spring, the fiery fist of vengeance strikes once again! Masterfully orchestrated by writer/artist, Kaare Andrews, Danny Rand once again channels the power of the ancient dragon, Shou-Lao, to become Iron Fist in an all-new series. Kaare explains, “I have two intentions with this project. The first is to tell a bare bones story that does not impede itself with the layers and layers of continuity that Iron Fist has become enriched with. The second, and more important, is to reach into the core of the character and re-explore who Danny Rand is. Reinvention through core exploration.”
In the character’s early history, starting with his first appearance in 1974, Danny was on a path for revenge as he hunted down the man who murdered his father, and Andrews promises to return to how it all began, “The defining aspect of Danny Rand is the loss of a father and a quest for honor and vengeance. Yet, these are themes that haven’t been explored again since his origin story back in the 70s. We need to bring Danny back to this state of blind rage and self-destruction. Remember – this is a man who traded immortality for vengeance. And the consequences of that are what I’m most interested in.”
Kaare Andrews is not the only one within the “House of Ideas” who respects and honors the character of Iron Fist. Marvel’s Editor in Chief, Axel Alonso, reminisces, “Iron Fist first appeared in Marvel Premiere #15 May, 1974. That self-contained issue, which tells the origin of Iron Fist, remains one of my favorite comic book stories of all time!”
Alonso continues, "Iron Fist: THE Living Weapon is a project close to my heart for two reasons: the character – being the first – and the creator, writer/artist Kaare Andrews. I consider Kaare to be one of the most gifted storytellers in the medium. Kaare has crafted a stirring and action-packed tale that cuts the very heart of who Iron Fist is.”
Through Iron Fist’s history, it has been revealed that Danny Rand is the most recent of an ancient linage of Iron Fists and Andrews promises to continue to expand on that eclectic library of characters while still keeping it a great entry point. Andrews says, “For readers who already know Iron Fist, we introduce a couple of new characters and make use of the world already established– but focus on keeping this story contained and accessible. For new readers, I’m trying to keep his condensed mythology very streamlined and fresh.”
When the mystical city of K’un-Lun comes under siege, the prodigal son, Danny Rand must come home – in more ways than one. Is Iron Fist prepared for a threat that hearkens back to that horrible day when his father dropped to his death on a Himalayan mountaintop? Can anything prepare him for the truth that’s waiting for him in the rubble that was once the city of K’un-Lun – the place of Iron Fist’s birth?
New Jumping-on Points for Marvel Series
Just a little over a year since Marvel re-launched many existing titles as part of its Marvel NOW! Initiative, the House of Ideas is going back to the well for renumbered re-launches of Marvel NOW! titles, as well as launches of new titles, as part of its "All-New Marvel NOW!" initiative.
In the process, Marvel is providing double issue numbers for re-launched titles, one under the Marvel NOW! numbering system and one under the All-New NOW! system. The new books are described by Marvel EIC Axel Alonso as "clean entry-points to all ongoing series." Beginning in December, one or more new series will be launched every week "with unique mission statements, epic scales, and bigger conflicts than ever before."
The new series kick off with Avengers, in December, numbered #24. NOW under the old sequence, and #1 in the All-New sequence. Both numbers appear on the cover, although the #1 has a more prominent presence. It will be written by Jonathan Hickman with art by Esad Ribic. In this post-Infinity story, the Avengers must assemble to fight the threat of a rogue planet hurtling toward Earth.
A new title, All-New Invaders #1, will launch in January, by James Robinson and Steve Pugh. It will team Captain America, the Winter Soldier, Namor, and the Original Human Torch to fight Norse Gods weaponized by the Kree Empire.
The previously announced Inhuman, by Matt Fraction and Joe Madureira, which debuts in December, has also now been revealed to be part of the All-New Marvel NOW! titles. Just last week, Marvel announced Inhumanity #1, apparently tied to Inhuman.
Brian Michael Bendis, Rick Remender, Dan Slott, Jason Aaron, and Kieron Gillen are promised as creators of All-New Marvel NOW! titles.
In addition to Marvel’s normal digital-free-with-purchase codes, some #1s will include codes for the first collections of new series.

It’s actually a team-up story with Shanna the She-Devil. Both Wolverine and Shanna have similar assertive personalities. The story is not just a quest to get home, it’s a story about surviving each other’s company and the Savage Land…it gets pretty bloody and savage… in a good way”
