As King’s saga moves into the second volume, The Drawing of the Three, the action shifts from the dusty plains of Mid-World to the mean streets of New York City! Fans will meet Eddie Dean – an innocent child who grows into a troubled young man with a powerful gift: the ability to unlock doors to other realms. But forces conspire against Eddie – and he must overcome his inner demons if he is to rise up and challenge the Man in Black. Witness the story of a man on his path to destiny and the most important journey of his life
“This is the ‘All-New Marvel NOW’ version of The Dark Tower. We’re now refocusing our spotlight to explore the events that led to the formation of the Ka-Tet that aided the gunslinger Roland Deschain on his quest,” said editor Bill Rosemann. “But instead of encountering Eddie Dean later in his life, as you do in the novel, we zoom back to 1964 and meet him as a toddler, so while we are adapting the second novel, we’re also weaving together events in a new way that will surprise everyone who has already read the book. We’re ‘assembling the Avengers’ of the Dark Tower universe, but Robin Furth, Peter David, Piotr Kowalski and Nick Filardi are doing so in a way that you’ve never imagined.”
Filled with all the drama, pathos and horror you’ve come to expect from master storyteller Stephen King, no fan should miss out on The Dark Tower’s triumphant return to comics. Perfect for new and long-time fans, a bold new chapter begins in THE DARK TOWER: THE DRAWING OF THE THREE – THE PRISONER #1 – on-sale September 3rd!
Sam Wilson, Formerly The Falcon, is the New Captain America in All-New Captain America #1
New York, NY – July 17th, 2014 – Marvel is excited to announce that beginning in November 2014, the title of Captain America will be passed to Sam Wilson, The Falcon, in the pages of All-New Captain America #1 by series writer Rick Remender (Captain America, Uncanny Avengers) and series artist Stuart Immonen (All-New X-Men).
Announced on “The Colbert Report” by Joe Quesada, “Sam Wilson…The Falcon, is the new Captain America.”
Addressing how Sam Wilson will follow in the footsteps of his predecessor, Steve Rogers, Remender says, “Sam wants to lead by example. To help people see their own selfishness and to turn it around. To build better communities, to never forget the little guy.” Remender continues, “Sam follows his heart and his belief in what the American dream means and how it belongs to everyone.”
The question remains: what happens with the original Captain America, Steve Rogers? Executive Editor Tom Brevoort says, “Steve’s spirit is as willing as ever, but his body is no longer up to the task of being Captain America. So he’ll employ his skills as the new Cap’s remote strategic advisor, running Cap’s missions from his headquarters in Avengers Mansion and providing Sam with technical support and field information from a distance. He’ll also tutor Sam in how to throw the shield, a skill that’s deceptively difficult for the new Cap to master. So Steve will continue to be a vital part of the series moving ahead.”
This July, the final chapter of the saga that started in Dimension Z begins in The Tomorrow Soldier – an epic new story arc kicking off in CAPTAIN AMERICA #22 by writer Rick Remender and artist Carlos Pacheco! After the Earth-shattering events of last issue, the Super-Soldier Serum within Captain America has been neutralized, reducing him to a feeble old man. After everything he’s already been through, how can Steve Rogers cope with such devastating loss? And can he continue to fulfill his duties as Captain America?
There’s no time for doubt, though, as two of Cap’s greatest foes have emerged from the shadows, their master plan almost complete. The Red Skull and Arnim Zola have reunited to finish the job they started – and not even the Avengers can stop them. The next explosive arc of the series that will have everyone talking begins right here! No fan should miss the explosive CAPTAIN AMERICA #22 this July!
Lawyer. Avenger. Hero. Friend. Jennifer Walters has been called many things – but to most, she’s known only as the She-Hulk! Today, Marvel is proud to present your first look at SHE-HULK #1 – the all-new ongoing series written by rising star Charles Soule and drawn by fan-favorite artist Javier Pulido! Savior of the world on more than one occasion, Jennifer Walters is embarking on a brand new, and no less dangerous mission – opening a new law practice!
“One of the big themes I’m going to play with is how in the world Jennifer is supposed to do everything she’s supposed to do,” said Charles Soule, in an interview with Marvel.com. “We don’t want things to be easy for our heroes—we want to see them overcome great difficulties. She-Hulk will battle one of the greatest villains of all: scheduling.”
“But She-Hulk will fight her share of giant robots and irradiated monsters, I promise,” he continued.
“Charles gets the humanity of this character – this book doesn’t just have superhero action, it has an emotional core that makes that action all the more meaningful,” says Associate Editor Tom Brennan. “And with Javier Pulido, we have a master storyteller who brings so much to the story and gives this series a texture and a pop of energy that defines All New Marvel NOW!”
But juggling her caseload and kicking bad guy butt might be a bit more complicated than she imagines. Not to mention the growing number of supervillains she’s making personal enemies of. Sure she can knock The Thing out in one punch, but this time she may have bit off more than she can chew! And that’s just the start of it. Don’t miss a new beginning for the jade champion of justice when SHE-HULK #1 smashes into comic shops this February!
