The first comic adaptation, a three-issue miniseries starring Grumpy Cat and her brother Pokey, will release this fall. The miniseries will be collected into a hardcover graphic novel in time for holiday release.  Dynamite also plans to launch a new website this summer featuring weekly Grmpy Cat comic strips.

Grumpy Cat, aka Tartar Sauce, started out her meme life on Reddit, where her adorable perma-scowl (which her owner says is the result of feline dwarfism) quickly spread to Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.

Her owner, Tabatha Bundesen, capitalized on the kitty’s success with two New York Times bestselling books, a Lifetime TV Christmas special, numerous TV and product spots, and merchandise that ranges from an iced coffee drink to a line of Ultra PRO game accessories. Her Facebook fans currently number over 7.6 million, and her YouTube video views have topped 31 million.

GC_lrg_logo_thumb1[1]

New Policy

As previously mentioned , a new policy change is coming. The date that the policy will be go into effect will be 02/15/2015 and here are some additional details:

All customers that are asking for us to order and hold comics, will be asked to establish a form of pre-payment in advance. This can either be in form of a credit card [Visa, MasterCard or Discovery] or a GamersCircle Comics gift card.

As you may or may not know, new comics arrive on Wednesdays. Also on this day, an email is sent out informing you of which comics have arrived for you. That email outlines the title, the issue number and the price of each item along with a total [before taxes] at the bottom.

If you are not able to swing by on Wednesday to pick up your comics, then on Thursday, that week’s comic book shipment will charged towards the pre-payment that you have setup with us. Then from that point forward, your comics will be ready and waiting for you to pick up.

If for some reason, the form of payment that has been established does not have sufficient funds. Then we will give you a call to let you know and work out other arrangements.
If we are not able to contact you, then a temporary hold will be placed on ordering any future comics until a form a pre-payment can be reestablished.

So far, support for this change has been very positive and we really appreciate your patience and continued patronage. We also understand that there might be some concerns and questions. Let Andy know when you come into the shop and he will answer them.

Marvel SVP Sales and Marketing David Gabriel confirmed to Comicbook.com that initial orders on Star Wars #1, due out in January, have topped one million copies.  Strong orders from comic shops and a large number of exclusive covers, sold through outlets new to comics, drove the numbers, according to Gabriel.

But the very heavy variant plan and the exclusive covers are not the only thing driving the numbers, the core demand is also  very strong, Gabriel said.  “I can safely say that even without the massive variant plan on this first issue, the numbers on the regular cover alone would make this the highest selling debut of 2015,” Gabriel told the site.
