This March, experience a Spider-Man story like you’ve never seen before as Peter Parker takes on the criminal underworld in Amazing Spider-Man: Spiral, a brand new 5-issue series beginning in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #16.1! Legendary Spidey writer Gerry Conway returns to the webhead along with blockbuster artist Carlo Barberi for an all-new tale of crime, corruption, and the dark corners of the Marvel Universe that will alter the landscape of the criminal underworld!
Spider-Verse may be over, but Peter Parker’s troubles are just beginning. A crime wave rips through New York City. The underworld is still in flux following the Kingpin’s removal from Shadowland. Gangs wage turf wars unchecked on the streets of Manhattan. The gang war is heating up and Spidey is going to do something about it!
Only he’s not alone! Police Captain Yuri Watanabe meters out her own justice both as a member of the NYPD and as the vigilante known as THE WRAITH! But do she and Spider-Man play by the same rules? How far is she willing to go to keep New York safe?
This April, witness the birth of a super-team unlike any you’ve seen before in ALL-NEW ULTIMATES #1 – the brand new series from critically acclaimed creator Michel Fiffe and rising star Amilcar Pinna!
As the world attempts to rebuild following untold destruction, we need heroes more than ever. Witness the birth of a new team of Ultimates – as Spider-Man, Black Widow, Kitty Pryde, Bombshell and Cloak & Dagger officially unite to tackle a vicious, rampant crime wave plaguing the streets of New York City!
“It’s a war zone in the streets of New York, Hell’s Kitchen in particular.” says Michel Fiffe, in an interview with Marvel.com. “Certain neighborhoods have been torn apart by the recent galactic cataclysm and crime is exponentially growing; local super-powered gangs rule the environment. That’s where Miles and the gang come in, to act with a grittier, more immediate problem while trying to find their own footing as super heroes.”
But Hell’s Kitchen isn’t the new Ultimates’ only problem. Diamondback and her gang of Serpent Skulls run the city’s drug & weapons trade and deal in citywide terror. NYPD detective Brigid O’Reilly and her anti-gang unit are on the hunt for Scourge, a new serial killer who’s exterminating anyone in a mask. They’ll get close, but not without a few casualties! And that’s just the first issue!
Don’t miss the blockbuster first outing of a new team for a new generation. The future of the Ultimate Universe is now – and it all starts this April in ALL-NEW ULTIMATES #1!
Well, the rumored third installment in the Max Payne series has finally become reality, and the developer behind it is not who you may think. Rockstar Games will be handling the coding duties this time around, and this will be Max "as we’ve never seen him before." Apparently, since leaving the NYPD, Max has gone from bad to worse. Having been duped, and now trapped in a city full of evil, he has to find a way out. Sounds like it could go either way. We will find out in Winter 2009.
After dropping the genre aspect of going back in time and focusing more on the "NYPD Blue" aspect of it, ABC has decided to cancel their new series "Life on Mars", which has been following after "Lost" every Wednesday. In an unusual move, the network will keep the show on the air through the end of its full run to give the series a rare opportunity to sign off with a proper finale, wrapping up the series’ core mystery.
TV Reviews: Add “Blind Justice” to the growing roster of crimeshows with a twist, as ABC and producer Steven Bochco attempt a baton-pass from “NYPD Blue” to a new cop franchise. Ron Eldard is a solid anchor as a New York detective who returns to work after losing his sight, but three episodes in it’s questionable how long the creators can sustain this premise and how many cases can be solved based on sense of smell.
