Fantasy Flight Games has announced the late Q3 arrival of the Fifth Wave of X-Wing Starship Expansions, which will consist of two large starships, the Rebellion’s YT-2400 Freighter Expansion Pack (MSRP $29.95) and the Empire’s VT-49 Decimator Expansion Pack(MSRP $39.95). In addition to the superbly sculpted (at the game’s standard 1/270 scale) starships, each Expansion Pack introduces a host of new upgrades and terrain pieces that allow players to explore a wide range of new tactics in their space battles.
The YT-2400 Freighter is a light and fast ship that features no fewer than 15 weapon emplacement points, which make it a staple vehicle for the Rebels who modified and armed these freighters and used them to great advantage in battling the Empire. The ship’s cargo space is often used for additional weapons or oversized engines. The highlight of the YT-2400 Freighter Expansion Pack is its detailed miniature starship, which is enhanced by one new mission, three debris cloud tokens, a maneuver dial, all requisite tokens, and four ship cards, including one for the famed smuggler Dash Rendor.
Of course, a ship as readily customizable as the YT-2400 needs to come with a host of upgrade options, and the YT-2400 Freighter Expansion Packcomes with thirteen upgrade cards, including a Lando Calrissian crew upgrade, the Outsider Title, and upgrade cards designed by each of the game’s first two World Champions.
The Empire’s VT-49 Decimator is a heavily armed transport used to perform long range reconnaissance missions or to deploy raiding parties or participate in major invasions. The VT-49 Decimator is the largest ship yet designed for standard play in the X-Wing Miniatures Game. Though it is sculpted in the same 1/270 scale, the VT-49 towers over its base and the smaller starfighters.
In addition to its imposing, pre-painted miniature, the VT-49 Decimator Expansion Packintroduces four ship cards, three debris cloud tokens, a new mission, a maneuver dial, and all the tokens you need to fly your Decimator into the thick of combat. Finally, you’ll find thirteen upgrade cards, which introduce a variety of crew members like Mara Jade and Fleet Officer designed to help you fill out the Decimator’s three crew member slots.

“Schools back for summer, and Wolverine, Storm and Quentin Quire are here to guide the next generation of mutant heroes,” says Editor Tom Brennan. “When the time came to find out who’d take the Wolverine & The X-Men story to its next chapter, Jason Latour was pretty much the only choice for someone who could continue this book’s legacy while charting new destinations.
